Remember the painting that Dazai and Hirotsu was looking at in the museum in Chapter 37? The one Dazai called weird and said he can paint it himself? Turns out he really did paint it. The real life Dazai Osamu created this oil painting back in 1940 and titled it “Scenery.”
Also, Hirotsu mentioned a self-portrait that Dazai once drew in the executive office that scared Elise. Once again, real-life Dazai drew a self-portrait back in 1947. If BSD Dazai’s self-portrait is anything like this, I think I can understand why Elise thought it was a curse-based ability.
